While other companies surprised visitors and onlookers with all sorts of new devices and technologies, Intel decided to arrange a couple of fasting days (a kind of well-deserved rest after the announcement of Intel Thunderbolt technology and the start of sales of new processors in January). By the way, the company decided to relax playfully, creating Intel Gaming Hall (Pavilion 23), the whole game universe. Two hundred high-performance computers (of course, based on their second-generation processors, from Core i3 to Core i7), on which world cyber-sports legends converge in virtual battles, are located on the stand (the size of a football field). The game pavilion will host the Intel Extreme Masters competition, the first games of the Intel Friday Night Games of the season ESL Pro Series Summer Season and the world final of the Intel GP Series.

The first round of the World Championship finals of the fifth Intel Extreme Masters Major League E-sports Championship started with the start of the CeBIT exhibition - March 1. E-champions from Europe, Asia and America met to defeat their rivals in Counter-Strike, StarCraft 2 and Quake Live and get the title of the best computer player in the world. The total event prize pool is $ 400,000 , which makes Intel Extreme Masters one of the largest online leagues for professional gamers. Observers will be able to follow all the games of the Intel Extreme Masters by visiting Pavilion 23 or via the Internet ( here and here ). The final games in all three disciplines will be held on Saturday, March 5th.

For ordinary visitors, there is also an entertainment program - in the free time from tournaments, you can sit down at all the same computers or for a special racing simulator in the pavilion. As part of the daily Intel Tech Talks meetings, visitors will be able to learn about the latest gaming industry and various gaming technologies, and in one of these meetings (March 4 at 3:00 pm) Mooly Eden, Vice President and General Manager of Intel PC Client Group. It will be possible to talk with him and other specialists in the Intel Experts' Corner at Intel.de/getsmart , which will also be broadcast in real time.

In addition to the usual computer toys, at the Intel booth there was a place for the world's fastest goalkeeper RoboKeeper - for those who are obsessed with football or just want to try their luck in an attempt to score a smart car. Externally, the goalkeeper is similar to the goalkeeper from the classic table football - the difference is that from the inside RoboKeeper is stuffed with electronics. It is based on an integrated fanless computing system (manufactured by Kontron) with an Intel multi-core processor — it is responsible for processing images of two webcams acting as robots and shooting at up to 50 frames per second. The robot focuses on the ball and calculates the trajectory of its movement - using the obtained images, specialized software calculates the likely coordinates of the ball entering the goal. To manage to process the data and react, the robot only needs three tenths of a second!
