I am not a fan of starting wars, but what they have done to me just makes me tell everything publicly.
Long ago, when the grass was greener, people were kinder and other incredible things happened. The well-known social network VKontakte gave people the opportunity for money to buy third-level domains for their own needs. The price cannot be called symbolic: 5,000 votes or 35,000 in native wooden rubles.
At this time, I and my partners were just beginning to want to make some kind of social game, they were then at the dawn of development in this social network. We sorted our ideas and decided to register one domain for the most promising:
club.vkontakte.ru')
Further events developed so that we had to postpone the creation of the game for a while and take up the priority direction at that moment. The domain remained assigned to me, I did not think to worry.
When VKontakte raised enough money and decided that the dynamics of the domain purchase had fallen, they decided to open a free domain registration. I then was glad that we had time to stake out a good domain.
But on February 24th of this year I received a message from Andrei Rogozov (judging by his Director of Development page): “Hello. We use the short name of the club for the service of VKontakte groups.
To compensate for the loss, I suggest you choose a short name of 4 or more letters and write to me. ”
When I asked why they didn’t immediately reserve service domains, why the domain was mine for over a year and it didn’t bother anyone, why should I choose another domain name when I paid for it — I received no answers. In response, I received one silent action - the
domain was taken away from me , now there is a blank page with the inscription Not Found.
Why the director of development solves issues that relate to the financial side of the project - it is not clear. His actions are coordinated with someone or this is his personal initiative - also remains a secret for me.
Since Andrei doesn’t respond to my messages, I don’t even want to write to someone else on VKontakte. I consider this a blatant outrage and will try to bring this situation to as many people as possible.
Thanks for attention.
UPDATE: The administration returned my votes to the account and offered another domain to choose from.
