G'MIC (GREYC's Magic Image Converter) is a toolkit with pre-configured filters and effects. Very comfortable to use even for beginners.

G'MIC can be downloaded at sourceforge.net , where the latest versions for all OSes are presented. Or, if you have Linux, connect the PPA like this:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa: ferramroberto / gimp
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install gmic gimp-gmic

G'MIC is not a bad group on flickr . There you can read the manual and get help.
