At the beginning of March in Belarus (. Osipovichi) the 3rd International
Parliamentary Debate Tournament Osipovichi Open 2011 will be held.
In short, the debate is a “dispute by the rules”, the main “trick” is that the position of teams on a given topic (resolution) is determined by lots (i.e. it is likely that the team will have to look for arguments in support of the position from which they themselves do not agree ). Once the positions are defined they must, within the rules, acting as a government (which protects the resolution) and an opposition (which opposes the government) - to convince the judges that they are right.
Resolutions for each round are usually formed on behalf of the House (party) of Parliament. Here are some examples: “This Chamber will legalize soft drugs,” “This Chamber will allow euthanasia,” “This Chamber assumes that the jurisdiction of an international criminal court should be expanded,” “This Chamber will help the homeless,” This Chamber believes that the pen is stronger than a sword, etc. The rules are pretty
simple See it with your own eyes can be in various tournaments and debate clubs Belarus there are several student clubs (mainly in Minsk), in Russia -. in almost every major university in Moscow has an active club in the whole lesson content. but interesting and helpful debate helps to develop critical thinking skills and public speaking skills, learn to look at the problem from different angles (the merciless fate thing) well, and most importantly - bring together a very interesting people.

What does it have to do with habr?
The answer is simple - this year's tournament theme is Copyright and Intellectual Property. And we (organizing committee) are actively
looking for experts who could advise participants of the tournament on various aspects of the topic. From the side of defenders of copyright experts, it’s not a problem to find experts, but among opponents, nobody can be called an expert - not found, if you are such or know such a person in our country - let me know in the LAN.
The discussion is planned in the following areas:
* Copyright protection: rules and exceptions
* Copyright protection and Internet
* Free software
* Protection of inventions and trademarks
Examples of possible topics:
EPHF * copyrights must not be inherited
EPHR social networks should be responsible for copyright infringement along with users who post IP objects through them
EP will allow to trade used files
* EP (SC) - This Chamber (Believes What).
If you have questions - ask, I will answer them with pleasure. And of course, I wonder what topics you put forward for discussion.
