Sony has launched a real war against hackers of the PlayStation 3 game console. Last week, the official PlayStation blog issued a
warning that owners of hacked console devices will be permanently disconnected from the PlayStation Network and Qriocity network services.
According to one
message from the forum , you can judge the fact of the use of a ban if you see error 0x8002A227. The first users, including those from Habr, have already
started receiving alerts from Sony via email. There are
suggestions how to avoid the ban.
The story began after a well-known hacker and Geohot (real name
George Hotz , George Hotz)
laid out a jailbreak for PS3 , allowing you to run on this console third-party code, unsigned PS3 and unauthorized for installation, including the Linux operating system. Previously, he had already done such a trick with the Apple iPhone.
Sony immediately sued Geohot, and now it threatens all users who dare to use jailbreak.

On Friday, February 19, Geohot began
collecting donations he needed for court proceedings with Sony and yesterday
announced that over the weekend he had collected enough funds for the first stage of the trial. The number of sympathizers turned out to be clearly more than expected. Geohot does not recognize how much they managed to collect, but promises to transfer all the remaining funds to the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
On its
website, Geohot explains that Sony has commissioned five lawyers to a lawsuit against him and sees this process as indicative. Geohot also believes that other hackers in the past lost similar lawsuits not because they were guilty, but because they did not have enough money for quality protection.
Sony repeatedly punished users who bought its devices and used them in violation of official terms of use and licensing agreements. For example, some time ago they condemned the guy who taught the Sony Aibo robot "unlicensed" tricks.
According to Geohot's philosophy, the manufacturing company has the right to protect its devices in the factory in any way, but as soon as you paid the money and purchased this device in your property, you have every right to hack it as you like. An example of iPhone jailbreaks is the same.
