Surviving the largest
influx of job seekers in Google, Google simplifies the interview process. From now on, the maximum number of interviews is limited to five (this number does not include telephone conversations, which may be several). Previously, the number of face-to-face interviews with a potential employee could reach as high as 12-14,
says the head of the HR department, Laszlo Bock.
The company also reduces the number of intellectual puzzles during interviews (questions like "Why are manhole covers round"
banned for a long time). This test was part of the intellectual elitism of Google’s corporate culture. But after numerous complaints from candidates, he was recognized as subjective.
In 2011, Google plans to recruit much more than those 6300 people who recruited in record 2007. The exact number of Laszlo Boc refused to name, but the goals are ambitious. In general, the Google management considers the search for talented employees in such vast quantities as one of the most difficult tasks that the company is facing now.
In order to combat the bureaucratization of large corporations, Google is trying to divide employees into small workgroups, as well as to provide more informational transparency. Simplifying the hiring process also serves this purpose.
