Intel
plans to invest more than $ 5 billion in the construction of a new chip plant in Arizona. This was stated by President and CEO Paul Otellini during the visit of US President Barack Obama to the Intel plant in Oregon.
In Intel, they say that the new plant in Arizona, called Fab 42, will be the most advanced enterprise in the world, carrying out mass production of semiconductors. It is expected that the construction of the plant will begin in the middle of this year and will be completed in 2013.
According to the company's senior vice president, Brian Krzhanich, the plant’s capabilities will enable the production of transistors at a technological rate of 14 nanometers. For comparison, Vedomosti
writes that the most modern Russian chip manufacturing, which Sitronics promises to launch this year, is focused on the production of chips using a
90-nanometer process.

Interestingly, while more than three-quarters of Intel’s sales fall to markets outside the United States, Intel produces three-quarters of its microprocessors in the United States. The emergence of a new plant will further increase the American production potential of the company. In addition, the project will provide thousands of temporary and permanent jobs, to which Obama can rejoice, most recently
discussing unemployment with the leaders of Silicon Valley.
