Rating aggregator

In any community, a reputation of participants arises, regardless of whether it is formalized in the form of a certain rating system or not. Formalization only allows you to quickly identify the authoritative participants, instead of “boiling” for a long time in a given community and understanding the relationships from within. The Internet, with its abundance of communities, communications and information, makes any simplifications relevant. Therefore, it is not surprising that the penetration of ratings into all communities, forums, etc. is a nascent global trend. On this topic, the recent publication on Habré from people who are doing it themselves.

Let's now look at two steps forward - what will happen when the ratings become ubiquitous and will be present on every resource, where there is a local community or where there are grounds for rating any competencies?

My answer is that rating aggregators will appear, collecting the reputation of users or companies, brands from different sites all over the Internet. Generating content in different places, you will simultaneously earn a global reputation. Such aggregators will form specialized to some kind of tops. A top always means an audience and increased attention to something. Therefore (another half step ahead) various other services will begin to wind up around them; more precisely, various relevant existing services will begin to cooperate with rating aggregators.

In fact, the penetration of ratings and “puzomerok” is already quite wide, especially if we take into account that puzomerki are not always decorated or positioned by rating - for example, the number and “weight” of those who have renamed you somewhere in social networks can play this role. And the first signs in the trend of “super service” rating have already appeared in the form of the American project KLOUT . As far as I understand, there users are rated for their activity only on Twitter and Facebook. But there are in fact heaps of sites and parameters, on the basis of which you can build rating aggregators.

I suggest that people who sense a “fat” trend here, actually head this trend in the sense of creating a certain startup. I called it “Personal Brand”, I plan to focus on the ranking of specialists, because this sharpened positioning allows you to more accurately form monetization. I have experience in building rating systems for sites, there is a designer, there are people with experience who are ready to help with advice, but there is no programmer. Let's create together such a “peoplerank” along with pagerank))

Update on 02/25/2011 In conclusion, the Witology project is really a really interesting thing for those interested in research and development . In terms of this topic, the text with the title of a simulator and career stimulator, as well as a way of assessing and enhancing one's professional value for employers is particularly interesting - see here . Well, actually "Personal Brand" link to a brief description .
