The Germans drove 4828 kilometers on the "wind-driven vehicle"
Yes, in addition to the electric cars that no one is surprising, a wind-powered vehicle appeared - the original vehicle in which two Germans traveled across Australia for more than two weeks. The total travel time of engineer Stefan Simmerer and TV presenter Dirk Gion was 18 days. During this time, travelers covered a distance of 4828 kilometers. The most interesting thing is that their vehicle was set in motion only by a kite (something like a kite) and wind generators.
Actually, Wind Explorer, the so-called vehicle, is an electric vehicle of a specific design, and when there was no wind, the travelers activated electric motors. They received electricity thanks to mobile wind turbines, which were installed at the place of lodging for the night and charged the Wind Explorer batteries. ')
For all the time of travel, this original crew set three records: firstly, the intersection of Australia on a wind-driven vehicle, secondly, a record distance for a similar vehicle, and thirdly - a record for the duration of travel by wind-driven vehicle.
As a matter of fact, to drive the whole of Australia in 18 days on such a flimsy vehicle is one more feat. Well, the Germans explain their journey by wanting to show the possibilities of alternative energy. Below you can view the video with some travel details.
