I found a good alternative to
RadRails , which is just terribly slow and, as it seems to me, unnecessarily heaped up with various features.
This is about the
NetBeans IDE , and in particular the
NetBeans Ruby IDE .

- Snippeta from TextMate'a. The author
tells that it was possible to transfer 155 of ~ 170 original TextMate snippets. In addition, you can add your own using a special syntax.
- A cool tree of project files.
- Syntax highlighting: everything that comes in handy when developing is highlighted - Ruby, Rails, rhtml, CSS, JavaScript, SQL, text / xml and so on. Everything can be changed / customized, exported and imported themes. There are cool themes for real maniacs: color on black :)
- Wednesday finds Ruby, Rails on its own, you can run any generator, rake and so on directly from the context menu. And the results are visible here in the consoles. Migrations, tests here.
- Pretty sensible SVN attached.
- Manager work with gem'ami. You can track updates, new arrivals and update directly from it.
- A sea of various other amenities.
It all works a miracle in Java, because there are versions for Windows, MacOS and in general it should work around where there is Java.
