A simple but quite spectacular experience can be carried out with a 90-meter steel wire hanging on a 110-meter tower not far from a powerful radio transmitter :
Due to the long length of the wire, it absorbs well the energy of a radio wave broadcasting at a frequency of 549 kHz with amplitude modulation. This allows you to hear the modulating audio signal without any additional devices, directly from the vibrations of a powerful electric arc coming from this wire into the ground.
