Qualcomm introduced a new handwriting input technology

This is quite an interesting technology that in the future will be able to facilitate the input of the necessary information into a mobile device, be it a tablet, a communicator, or something else. The technology, as far as can be judged, is a bit "raw", but the results demonstrated by the developers are impressive. In the continuation - a video and a small description of the presented technology.

So, the whole system for entering handwriting into a mobile device consists of three elements: an ultrasonic pen / stylus, which includes a battery and an ultrasonic transceiver, a mobile device with Epos OS and a special portable microphone. The handle can be filled with paste, or used without it. In addition, the pen can be used as a stylus for a device with a touchscreen display.

The microphone must be of a special type, it can be seen in the video, which is shown below. That's just the microphone and the whole snag - everything would be nice if it were not for the stationary microphone. Few would agree to carry with them an additional device, even if the whole system works quite well.

By the way, the microphone picks up the vibrations of the transceiver knobs from a distance of up to 30 cm. And yet - the developers showed a prototype of translating text from one language to another. That is, you write, for example, in Spanish. The system recognizes handwriting input, and then translates from Spanish to English. This is, in principle, worth it to carry a microphone with you - and the system has not yet been “reached” for mass use.

Hopefully, the developers will be able to miniaturize this whole scheme, make, for example, a small microphone that fits directly onto the device, and then it will become more convenient to use all this. Of course, electronics and software also require fine-tuning, but all of this is completely realizable.
