GTD without tension (David Allen and his 52 principles)

Somewhere a month ago, another book by David “Our All” by Allen was published by the “Myth” publishing house - and again on how to organize time .

I am sure the author would not have condemned me for my fair doubts with which I took her in my hands. " How to quickly put things in order (52 principles of productivity without stress) " is the third book of Allen, which I read. The first one - in fact, Getting Things Done - I am ready to sing the praises at any time and in any context. At least for the fact that I no longer wake up in the middle of the night with my heart pounding at the thought: “I forgot to do this and I’ll not have time !!!!”.

But the second, " How to keep things in order, " went to me much harder. I turned the last page with the firm conviction that all these useful things could be described in much shorter and easier language. Therefore, to another book about GTD were serious questions. For example, " What else can I write about a system that is famous for its simplicity? ". Or - “Could I spend the time allotted to the book with more benefit?”.
')
But still read.

Regret? No, not at all. But the impression remained ... unexpected. The form is a collection of individual notes about the organization of time . You see right: Allen wakes up and flies into his free brain with the thought: “Christmas trees, sticks, so stability on one level means creativity on another !”. And he is her ass - and in the "Inbox" ...

In “52 principles ...” - in the original they are called “Ready for everything” - there are almost no new ideas. But in it there is an ease and non-tension of a statement, there is a humor and "flights of thought". Here Allen does not teach - he thinks out loud. He scolds those who arrange excessively complex systems and try to stuff everything, everything, encourages and shares experience, including unsuccessful ones.

And there are plenty of great quotes here: both Allen and other people. I especially liked:

“It takes about ten years to get used to your age.”

“The opportunity remains unrecognized by most people because it is dressed in work clothes and looks like work.”

“Millions of people yearn for immortality, but they themselves do not know how to occupy themselves on a rainy Sunday afternoon.”

“Army wisdom: Give honor to what is moving. Drag the still. You can not drag - paint. "

So who would benefit from such a book ?

Of course, people who respect Allen. Of course, those who want to put things in order, but do not like words like “system” and “context”. Here GTD is more humane. I would recommend it to everyone else as an interesting and useful reading. But - not mandatory.

Personally, I want to write out each “rule” with explanations on a separate card and be inspired at the right moment. :-)
