Acer news at MWC 2011: first look

image
In the pavilion Acer I find Kim Korshunov in a state of light stupor in front of some stand. I went over, I looked. 0_o. Before me is one of the most unusual Android smartphones that just caught my eye ... Oh, and by the way, is this a smart phone or such a small tablet? I look around - oh, yes there are a lot of fun things.

“Something in between a smartphone and a tablet, but nevertheless closer to a smartphone,” is the first thing that comes to mind when you try to tell something about Acer Iconia Smart. Screen (with LED backlight) - 4.8 "diagonal. If it were just a regular widescreen, it would have turned out not a smartphone, but a real shovel. But Iconia Smart has a widescreen display with a 21: 9 aspect ratio (1024 pixels on the wide side of the matrix - and how, I wonder, will third-party applications run on such a gadget?) will stick up. Metal body, and unibody - yes, we love so much. Inside - Snapdragon. There is an HDMI output. Supported by Dolby Mobile. Works on Android 2.3.

The Acer branded shell has been redone once again and, this time, brought to a standard, “Androids” look - the widgets returned to the idle screen. And pity, I really liked the interface of Acer Stream and liquid mt.

On sale this miracle will appear almost in April. About the Russian price so far nothing is known.

Acer liquid mini was announced at the beginning of this year, but it was in Barcelona that they showed almost the final sample. A very good format: a small and inexpensive Android-smartphone - especially for those who have forked out on a tablet and do not want to buy a smartphone with a large screen for bad money, but will not return to the button "dialer". The Android version is 2.2, the interface is the same as liquid mt. On sale - from March, the estimated price - 11 000 rubles.

The seven-inch Acer Iconia Tab A100 tablet for the stuffing is an exact copy of the CES Iconia Tab A500 announced on January (keywords: NVIDIA Tegra 2, HDMI output, support for 3G and Wi-Fi). Only the screen is smaller, and the design is slightly different (a touch home button appeared on the front panel). By the way, very good news: both the A100 and A500 will be on sale with the new version of Android - 3.0 Honeycomb (you have to believe in it - there were tablets with 2.3 on the stands).

And this gadget is for nonconformists, people with exquisite taste. The ten-inch Iconia Tab W500 modular tablet PC on the AMD platform (C-50 Ontario, Radeon HD 6250 and a 32 GB SSD drive) is, of course, running Windows 7. The keyboard (by the way, the most convenient), is also a stand, also USB hub - comes unfastened; so the laptop turns into a tablet. On Windows 7, Acer pulled a beautiful shell-interface for easy control of fingers and on the go, but just like any shell on top of Windows, I absolutely do not want to use it.

In general, make me the same, but a little thinner and with Android 3.0.

And this laptop - Acer Iconia - was announced, it seems, last year, but we didn’t get it “alive”.

The thing, of course, surprisingly meaningless, but very much funny. Also for people with exquisite taste. There is no keyboard, and instead of it - a touch screen. Clearly, anything can be put on it: even a keyboard, even a multimedia gallery, or even a Twiter or Facebook tape.
