Microsoft has patented the idea of inserting tags into the software code that will allow the company to identify the original buyer, reports TG Daily. The idea is that the personal information of the buyer: name, address, phone number and credit card - is embedded in the binary code of the application in the process of selling it via the Internet, and the user downloads the purchased program with a personal code. Digital “watermarks” are also planned to be encrypted for better protection. The inventors of the method claim that pirates will be able to determine the differences between the two versions of the application, but will not be able to understand exactly where this information is encrypted.
