(In the office of a psychologist a young man ...)
You see, my life is connected with computers. I use computers at work, at home. Sometimes friends and acquaintances come to me. So (sighs heavily) ... In the last year it seems to me that I am being followed. From time to time I get strange red windows on all of my computers. Why do they come across my eyes - I do not know, but I see them more and more often!
Sometimes I click "Quit" and nothing happens. Sometimes I click “Install” and then a new window appears. Like this:

There are true and other windows. Also red, but with other buttons. There is a button (with the following text): “Never again show me this window! At all! Never at all!). I always mark it. I have already learned how this text is written, where it appears and when. If it does not happen for a long time, then I start to worry - has anything happened?
')
(Sobs ...)
But these windows always appear again and again !!! The function "Never show" never works!
(She tears up sheets of paper under her arm ...)
Or, Adobe Reader ... Tell me, how often do you watch pdf-files? I am not often. Maybe once a month. And even less. But Adobe Reader is constantly asking for my attention. It can not upgrade itself. The function of the so-called auto-update requires my participation. Why? What for?
(Switches to crying ...)
But this weekend ... This software from Adobe made me update every day! I can not take it anymore! Maybe I just have no place in this world?
(The psychologist approaches the young man, puts his hand on his shoulder).
Well, you, that you ... You are so strong, confident ... Do not worry, it happens to everyone. Nowhere not to get away from this. Although you know what? Let's better now ... Install the new version of the software from Adobe! Well no?
(A young man jumps up and jumps into the office window on the seventeenth floor with a scream.)
The result of this post. Dear programmers! Do not assume that your program is the most important on the computer. Do not do like Adobe. Do not constantly give out such windows. Especially red! I am sure that this will improve your attitude towards your programs. Let the user decide whether to update or not, and when to do it. And do it as quietly as possible, without such “loud” windows. Keep calm people.
Just as an option, you can only be updated when the program is actually used. For example, we did it at home. Man uses - there is a check for updates. No - nothing to update.
