YouTube and LG collaborate on mobile 3D video

Today, LG Electronics and YouTube video service have announced the start of cooperation in the field of mobile 3D video. So far, this is a relatively new line of business (not 3D, but mobile 3D), and the collaboration focuses on developing convenient applications for uploading the received video device from LG to YouTube. As a basic model for testing the possibility of direct communication of a mobile device and video hosting, a new smartphone LG Optimus 3D is taken. This Android-smartphone “can” take photos and videos in 3D, thanks to the presence of a camera with a dual lens.

The video can be directly uploaded to YouTube by using the YouTube 3D app. By the way, this smartphone also allows you to view stereoscopic and video images in 3D using special glasses (and rightly so, it’s very inconvenient to carry these glasses with you to use the 3D function). In a joint statement, the two companies reported that such cooperation would allow developing mobile 3D technologies to the extent needed by users. Thus, when mobile devices with 3D “go to the masses”, everything will be ready for comfortable work of users with new technologies.

By the way, YouTube created a section for 3D video back in 2009, at the same time the service began selling special glasses for watching videos from the section.

As for the device from LG, its configuration also includes a dual-core OMAP4 processor with a frequency of 1 GHz, a fairly powerful video system, a special display with a diagonal of 4.3 inches, wireless communication modules and HDMI, support for DLNA technology. This novelty has not yet gone on sale, although the announcement of the device took place. Perhaps in a few days the smartphone from LG will go on sale.
