30% increase in Windows Phone 7 Marketplace

Researchers at app stores (app stores) from Distimo in yesterday's release noted the outstanding growth rates of the Windows Phone 7 store.

The report focuses on the two highest-growth app stores, Android and WP7. It is immediately noticeable from the first chart that WP7 Marketplace is growing faster than all competitors. What is even more incredible is the practical lack of noticeable growth in the iPhone AppStore, approaching 1%. On the contrary, WP7 took the lead with 30% growth, Android took the second place with an increase of 18%. With such high levels of growth among Apple’s competitors, in the future we will be able to see that the number of Android apps will exceed the massive iPhone store volumes.

Although massive growth looks promising, it seems that most applications in the store are ported from other platforms. As proof of this, it is known that WP7 has attracted more than a quarter of the top 200 cross-platform developers.

Although WP7 is indeed the fastest growing, it is still a very young competitor. The real scale of the work done by WP7 developers becomes clear from the following graph. Even with such modest results compared to Android and iPhone, the developers for WP7 have already outpaced the WebOS App Catalog and are getting very close to the Blackberry App World. At this rate, WP7 will outstrip Blackberry in the next 4-5 months, and then, for the iPhone and for Android, tough times will come.

At the moment, all the facts suggest that WP7 will indeed become a real competitor for Android and iPhone in the number of available applications. The question is how long such a rapid growth will last.
