According
to activewin.com, Microsoft is working on the next version of its browser - IE8.
The final version should be expected no earlier than one and a half to two years. It is likely that the working prototype
will be demonstrated not earlier than at the Microsoft Mix '07 conference, which will be held in late April. Although most likely, the alpha version already exists.
Most likely, CSS support will be improved. Also, the IE development team has compiled a
list based on the wishes of users. Some of them are clearly inspired by Firefox.

The Mozilla Foundation has defined a
preliminary list of Firefox 3.0
specifications .
The list is divided into compulsory, highly desirable, “it would be non-figural” and requirements that will pass into future versions.
Some required:
Better support for print versions, support for Microsoft CardSpace and OpenID, improved interaction with add-ons, MSI installer to enable administrators of companies to manage installations
, etc.Some desirable:
transfer of help to online, the ability to save pages to PDF with integrated history,
support microformats ,
etc.For non-figs, I’ll mention simplified file uploading (and where is it even easier?) And the ability to install extensions without rebooting the browser.
Exit Firefox is expected in the third / fourth quarter of 2007. A version 4 of the
company's plans should be released in 2008.
