280,000 lines of code - not a single error?

A government commission from the US Department of Transportation and NASA examined 280,000 lines of code in Toyota cars and found no errors in them. Thus, two reasons for the mass accidents involving Toyota cars are named: the wrong positioning of the carpet and the sticking accelerator pedal.

On the main charge point - failures in the control electronics and software - the world's largest car manufacturer is officially declared innocent.

This is a big win for Toyota. Immediately after the announcement of the findings of the commission, the company's shares jumped as much as 4.6%.

Of course, now Toyota will have to carry out free repair of millions of cars and pay compensation to thousands of victims. But the main thing is that confidence in the high-tech components of the most electronics packed cars in the world has been restored. Thus, the advanced image of Toyota is preserved.

Well, the professionals can only wonder how a hardware-software complex on wheels running 280,000 lines of code can work normally without failures. Apparently, in the programming of automotive electronics, there are completely different quality standards than in the creation of software for the PC.
