Sprint introduced the Kyocera Echo dual-display Android smartphone
American mobile operator Sprint introduced Kyocera Echo - a smartphone consisting of two touch screens.
The two 3.5-inch WVGA touchscreens are connected by a patented heel joint, allowing the two displays to work both independently and unfolded as one display with a diagonal of 4.7 inches. A total of four modes of using a smartphone are available:
Single-screen mode with the functionality of a single-display touchscreen smartphone.
Simultaneous task mode: two of the seven main programs (messages, email, browser, phone, gallery, contacts and VueQue) can be run simultaneously on a separate display each. For example, you can read e-mail on one screen and search for something on the Internet on another.
Optimized mode: one of the displays is used as an auxiliary. For example, you can write a letter on one screen and place a keyboard on the other.
Tablet mode: one application is stretched across both displays with a full 4.7-inch workspace. This mode can be useful for viewing maps, videos, sites or documents.
The smartphone uses Android 2.2. Among other characteristics:
the ability to use as an access point Wi-Fi (for up to five devices);
five megapixel camera with flash, autofocus, digital zoom and 720p video;
Snapdragon's one-gigahertz processor;
gigabytes of internal memory and an eight-gigabyte microSD card (cards up to 32 GB are supported).
Kyocera Echo will be available in the spring at a price of $ 199.99 with a two-year contract. More information, photos and videos can be found on the specially launched site - echobykyocera.com .
