Google is discussing the terms of the acquisition of a
GrandCentral phone number
management startup with its developers. TechCrunch
believes that the transaction is likely already closed and is trying to figure out its value.
The idea of a startup is to provide one lifetime phone number for all phones. That is, if you change jobs, move or take a mobile phone - you will lose numbers. And when using the GrandCentral you can forget about such troubles. The service provides you with a single number and forwards phone calls from it to your new numbers, choosing the one you need depending on the number of the caller.
If Google buys GrandCentral, it is obvious that the service will be used in Gmail and GTalk, and in the future will be able to compete with Skype and other similar platforms.
Google does not comment on this event, but the guys from TechCrunch have already sent a letter to GrandCentral and are awaiting confirmation.
