MocoSpace has expressed interest in acquiring MySpace

The other day it became known that MocoSpace made an offer to News Corp. about buying the once most popular social network MySpace in the world. Somehow, very quickly MySpace dropped from the leadership position, although it is still the third largest social network in the world (as of January 29 of this year). As a result, News Corp, which bought MySpace six years ago for $ 580 million, now seeks to get rid of the resource that has become unnecessary. MySpace is currently a loss-making service, and News Copr. ready to sell this social network for an amount of 50 to 200 million dollars.

“News Corp representatives have already responded to our proposal, and we hope to begin negotiations today,” said Justin Siegel, executive director of MocoSpace. By the way, MocoSpace is a company that develops social resources for mobile devices. It is clear that MySpace is particularly interesting for such an organization, especially since you can buy a resource cheaply (of course, compared to the cost of MySpace in 2006).

Despite the fact that the Rupert Murdoch Corporation is making progress, and the company reported a regular financial statement about profit of $ 642 million, the management is not going to contain unprofitable assets. And cooperation with MocoSpace in this regard is a strategically correct decision. Perhaps this company will be able to breathe a second life into a resource that is gradually losing popularity.

Now the company's management continues to reduce the staff of MySpace, and is increasingly looking for buyers. Justin Siegel believes that the resource can be made popular again by focusing on a specific field of activity. Such a sphere could be the segment of the mobile Internet, which continues to develop very actively.
