Bumburum number

Mathematicians have an interesting thing - the Erds number . In essence, this is the distance from any mathematician to Paul Erdös through collaborative work. At Erdos himself, this number is zero. For his co-authors, the Erds number is one, for the co-authors ñ two, and so on.

Recently, I was visited by the thought - what if you do something like this for Habr? Only not by co-authorship (how to count it at all, by comments?) But by friends. Such a theory of six handshakes in practice. The well-known user boomburum was chosen as the reference point. The distance from it to other users I, without further ado, called the number of Bumburum.

Find out how far you are from Bumburum here .

A brief retelling of the results: out of almost 60,000 users of Habr and Bumburum, a little more than 25,000 are connected, most of them have Bumburum number 3 or 4. The maximum recorded number of Bumburum is 10 (festgo habrat-girl ). A small note: for the purpose of the study, people invited to the site by a person are considered to be friends, even if they are clearly not listed as friends.

Data collection took a little over two days, with a crawler written in Node.js + Redis. Post with the rest of the technical details here .
