Porsche for the poor

The artist built a full-size model of the Porsche GT3 from plastic pipes, adhesive tape and aluminum foil of golden color. Hannes Langeder, for 6 months, spent 1000 hours on building a full-size, environmentally friendly pedal-driven car, which cost 13,000 euros (about 11,000 pounds).

A “green” car does not require fuel at all, except for the food needed by the driver, and it is possible to use it absolutely legally on the roads of Austria.

Despite the fact that it looks very similar to the Porsche GT3 RS, it weighs only about 100 kg and is an art project currently on display at the Museum of Modern Art in Linz, Austria.

Special features include the rear wing and massive front air intakes to improve aerodynamics and “prevent driver fogging”. Only the base of the car is made of steel frame. Everything else is made of plastic pipes covered with packing tape and covered with aluminum foil.

Unlike its mechanical counterpart, worth 130,000 pounds sterling, from accelerating to 60 km / h in 3.7 seconds, the model is not equipped with a 450 hp turbocharged engine. and set in motion by the pedal force of the driver.

"Bicycle under the hood" allows you to reach a maximum speed of 10 miles per hour, if you strongly pedal. Hannes decided to build his Porsche when he found out that he could drive a pedal car on Austrian roads on absolutely legal grounds. “This mechanism is legally considered a bicycle, and I wanted to show that the car does not need fuel,” he said.

“I wanted to create a car that fits my vision of the future. And there is not a single original part in it. ”
“The most impressive thing about him is his slowness. Everyone on the street is moving faster than you. "
"You are not the enemy of other road users, and slowness only emphasizes a kind of luxury."
"Most drivers do not immediately realize that technically it is a bicycle."
"Most of them like it and they take out their cameras."

Cardboard patterns made from the original Porsche and toy car model were used to create the shape of the future velomobile.
