Hi, Habr!
You are always aware of all cases, but one thing seems to have forgotten. Right now,
GAME_ON is
nearing completion - a competition among browser games created using open-source
HTML5, canvas, WebSockets and other web technologies. The competition was organized by
Mozilla Corporation, which recently set itself the goal of creating a community of game developers who are ready to switch to a new, more innovative platform.
In addition to the idea, the interest of the participants warms up the
main prize : no less than a trip to
GDC 2011 and another whole bundle of useful and pleasant buns. In addition to the awards for the best game, awards are provided in seven categories:
Best Technology, Most Internet Game, Most Beautiful, Most Original, Most Detailed, Most Fan and, of course,
Community Choice .
The decision on which games will become winners will be made by a
jury in which people from companies like
Yahoo! Games, Zynga Germany, Sony Online Entertainment, Palm, playthisthing.com, Six to Start, bit.ly, Engadget, eBay, Facebook and many others.
')
And
there is something to choose
from : initially 160 applications were submitted for the competition, but in the first round only 120 of them turned out. Today there are
35 finalists left, but only the top 8 will reach the end - the results will be announced
on February 3 .
I will not give here a list of all the games, I can only say that among them everyone can find something to their taste. Personally, I liked:
- Sketchout - draw constellations to protect our world from aliens;
- Red Shooting Hood - the story of Little Red Riding Hood, who decided to take revenge on the wolves;
- StillAliveJS - 2D version of the beloved Portal;
- FAR 7 is a space MMO, similar to Space Rangers. By the way, the only project from the CIS that reached the final!
- This Shell is an audio-video puzzle;
- Z-Type - fun learning keyboard (to kill a monster, you need to type his name).

Well, we wish all the participants good luck. Khabrovchanin, you can also find a game to your liking and
vote for it until February 1 !
