GoDaddy blocks whois of some of its domains.

The other day it was noticed that some domains registered with GoDaddy, when using third-party services, whois give out not the usual information, but this:

This situation is typical not only for the domain in the screenshot, but also for many, but not all, of the domains that are in service in GoDaddy. As mentioned above, it does not matter which software or service the user uses - DomainTools, who.is or any other, the result is the same.

In order to clarify the situation, Rich Merdiner, one of GoDaddy’s senior managers, explained: “Our company highly appreciates the anonymity of users. We regularly monitor whois requests for the domains of our clients, and if we see that a service or program too often requests whois for a domain, block the possibility of issuing whois. We do not completely block such information, but only ensure that it cannot be obtained by third-party services. At the same time, you can find out whois of any of the domains that are registered either with us or being serviced at GoDaddy using the whois.GoDaddy.com service. If a company or an individual has any questions about getting information through our service, you can contact us by e-mail dns@jomax.net. ”

Of course, this is not very good news for those who work with whois-services, but the news that GoDaddy does not completely block whois of its domains, but only makes it impossible to obtain information about the domain for third-party services, is good news. Perhaps sooner or later there will be a service or software that will use the “native” service GoDaddy whois.GoDaddy.com .
