SP4 for MSSQL 2005 is available through Windows Update

In the light of all the latest news, holidays, as well as the presence of more relevant MS SQL Server 2008, many have forgotten about the “kid” 2005.

Days of Microsoft began distributing Service Pack 4 for MS SQL Server 2005 through Windows Update.

The package could be downloaded as early as mid-December 2010, but in the light of the 2008 version, the release of the 4th update package for the 2005 version was not announced loudly.

SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 4 (SP4) can also be downloaded from the SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 4 (SP4) download page . For each platform supported by SQL Server 2005, a separate downloadable installation package is available:

• For owners of corporate versions, this can be done on the corresponding page of the Download Center .

• For owners of Express or Express Edition with Advanced Services, download the update from a separate Download Center page.

SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 4 (SP4) includes cumulative updates for SQL Server 2005 SP3 from 1 to 11, fixes for errors found by users, and support for DAC operations in SQL Server 2005 SP4 Database Engine.
