Facebook finally has the opportunity to visit the site via an HTTPS connection, which should drastically increase the security for users.
The feature is available as an option in Account Settings . The feature will appear to users gradually over the next few weeks, so you may have to wait. ')
Facebook has already used HTTPS when authorizing users on other sites through Facebook Connect. But now you will be able to set HTTPS as the default connection for the entire period of your visit to Facebook. The HTTPS pages will load slightly slower, but you will not be at risk of using your Wi-Fi to get your password through the same Firesheep .
Note that some features, including many third-party applications, will not work with an HTTPS connection. Application developers are encouraged to use the “Secure Canvas URL”.
In the future we plan to enable HTTPS for all by default.
