Gmail Alerts for Desktop

Gmail has learned to notify users about new emails without installing add-ons and Google Talk. True, this feature is available only for Google Chrome.

Gmail alerts for your desktop appear in pop-up windows when you receive a new letter or chat message. That way, even if the Gmail page is not open, you will always find out if someone wants to talk to you.

In the settings, you can adjust exactly which alerts you would like to see (chat \ letters). Chat notifications are enabled by default, but you can turn them off in Gmail’s preferences. To enable email or chat notifications, follow the steps below.

1. Click the Settings link in the upper right corner of the Gmail page.
2. On the General tab, in the Desktop Notifications section, select the options you want. You can enable or disable alerts for a chat, turn off alerts for email, turn on alerts for all incoming emails, or only for emails marked as important.
3. Click the Save button.
