Not so long ago, the beta version of Opera Mini 4 became available for download to everyone. The developers modestly promised a revolution in the world of mobile Internet. I could not stand aside and not look at the future :)
The test phone used Sony Ericsson K600i (screen resolution - 176x220). The impressions are generally positive. I'll tell you the points, noting the pros and cons.
Now pages can be displayed “as in big browsers”. This feature looks awesome, but unfortunately, not too usable (at least, on screens with a small resolution). But, the developers do not want to force anyone to use it, and you can always switch to the old mode by ticking the “Fit to width” option in the settings. By the way, the traffic in this mode is consumed slightly more than usual. There are also problems with the positioning of blocks of the page - the text can run into pictures, etc. But this happens infrequently and, presumably, by the final version everything will be fixed.
As for the settings, they have changed slightly. Added items "Fit to width", "Auto zoom" and "Clear cookies". The opportunity to change the skin has disappeared somewhere (perhaps, the developers will return it to the final release).
Two other traditional components of any browser (History and Bookmarks) have not changed at all, which upsets. We can only hope that they have just not yet reached the turn. Personally, I would not give up the possibility of exporting (or even "socializing" :)) bookmarks.
Another great feature is the context menu, called by pressing the "1" key. The menu duplicates all the useful settings that can be useful when surfing the world wide web. Particularly pleased that with its help you can see where the link leads.
And finally, a few more small and nice features that were not noted above:
1. Scrolling has become smoother.
2. There were hints for the input fields “Click to edit” (eh, I’d like to autocomplete them screwed ..)
3. With disabled loading of images, colored rectangles with alternative text are displayed on them (there used to be just empty frames).
4. Changed the selection of links.
5. Cursor!
At the moment, Opera Mini 4 is not recommended for use - it's just a beta version, but this is a great application for the future. Now we know what to expect from Opera Mini 4 and I personally like that future. And you? :)
