January 20, 2011, a new stable release of the Postfix 2.8.0 mail server (MTA) took place . This release continues to advance, improving code and documentation, and making the system more secure in an insecure environment.
What has been done in the new version:
The postscreen daemon (Postfix frontend zombie blocker) is now included in the stable release. Postscreen now supports TLS and can log blocked recipients, senders and information from helo. See the POSTSCREEN_README file for recommendations on using scripts.
Added support for the white DNS list (permit_rhswl_client), and you can also use a mask when building filters for the DNS black and white list servers (for example, reject_rhsbl_client zen.spamhaus.org = 127.0.0. [1..10]).
Improved tracking of messages passing through SMTP content filters; as well as the post-filter of the SMTP server can now log the ID of the pre-filter queue (the XCLIENT protocol has been extended).
Support for suffixes is added to the SMTP server “reject” messages. That is, in addition to the usual technical message "550-5.5.1 <user @ example> Recipient address rejected: User unknown", you can add your own text. See " smtpd_reject_footer " in the postconf (5) manual.
Nothing has been removed, but it is better to revise the RELEASE_NOTES file for possible minor incompatibilities and / or limitations.
You can find Postfix 2.8.0 on any mirror; a list of mirrors is presented on the standalone page .
The same code is also available for the Postfix 2.9-20110120 snapshot. An updated version of Postfix 2.7, 2.6, 2.5 and 2.4 will be released soon. And support for version 2.4 will end soon.
