Users are outraged by replacing the “Reader” link with the “Photos” link in Gmail

Google replaced the link to its RSS reader, Google Reader, with the Photos link (Picasa service) at the top of the Gmail web interface. The Reader link is now hidden behind the “more ▼” link.

Of course, this is only a minor change in the interface, but it caused a wave of disturbance on Twitter on users.

Here are some examples:

Rrr! GMail , picasaweb - this is a failure, please RETURN THE LINK TO READER IN THE GMAIL MENU IMMEDIATELY! (The pictures have nothing to do with the “web office”.)

ARGH! GMail picasaweb is a #fail, please PUT BACK THE READER LINK IN GMAIL MENU ASAP! (Pictures of web office env.)

Damn it, Google, why did you replace the Reader with Photos in Gmail links? I always use the Reader link!

Google, why did you replace it? I use that Reader link all the time!

Apparently, this is really a problem. To a certain extent, you can customize Gmail, that's fine, but you can't even change the order of the top menu items - and that angered users.

One of the non-indifferent users even wrote an extension for Chrome , which returns everything back (works only for the English-language interface).

UPD. At my request, the author of the aforementioned extension has added support for all languages.
