So it happened to me - for the first time in a year of using a dedicated server, I delayed payment for two days. But the staff of the brave hosting decided that a simple lock is not enough. iphoster.ru decided to punish me as much as possible, on all points as they could.

Story

Hosting was ordered on December 17, 2009 for a startup that was smoothly and leisurely preparing to launch. We wanted the idea to mature, because a year or two to launch it is not scary. All this time we have been preparing it right on our personal server.

The machine is not the most powerful, but enough with his head:
Processor: Pentium 4
RAM: 512 MB
Disk: 60 GB

OS: Debian 5

The price at 40 per month was incomparable with the convenience of our own hosting and confidence in their own data.

On the server, besides our future startup, several of my projects were hosted:

I would not say that hosting was very reliable. Sometimes it happened for several hours there was no connection with him. Once an interesting case even happened due to which my server was not working on November 25-26, 2010.

Closer to dinner on the 25th, I receive a text message stating that the server is not working. But I am in another city, I arrive in the evening and begin to understand. Then I write in support. Although this case is only indirectly related to the result, but note how loyal I feel about their problems and how I emphasize the importance of the data.

There was a large explosion up the street from the Scranton PA data center.
Following that, there was issue with one of our generator systems.
We are working on the issue and should be resolved as quickly as possible.
No ETA/details on explosion yet, but power is out in a multi-block radius.
I would expect us to be running on generator power most of the day during repair from the power company.

We have currently returned power to the data center and called in extra staff to physically go through any servers that remain offline.
