Let me tell you about our small startup.

Now formspring.me is popular, where you can be asked anonymously.

Almost at the same time, threewords.me appeared with us, where you can be characterized in three words, anonymously.

And here he is Nekto.me , where they write a review about you, change karma and add a label. Yes, anonymously.



It is curious how the idea originated:

In November of 2010, I watched the next series of “How I Met Your Mother” (S06E04).



In this episode, Marshall tells Ted (an architecture teacher) about a new cool site, grademyteacher.net , where students evaluate teachers.

I saw the site address in the address bar of the laptop and decided to go.

At the address, I saw a stub - this is the picture (which is still there today):





It was then that the thought came to me - “but what if you create a project, where people can evaluate ... famous people?”

For some reason decided to do under the English-speaking audience. In a hurry sketched this:

After writing a simple script. Layout was not, there was only functionality, and that was not all.

Then I got a lot of more urgent things, so I postponed the work on the project.

During this period, calm rethought the concept of the project.

I decided to make it more social, to give visitors the opportunity to add themselves.

Landmark replaced by a Russian-speaking audience.



I made the logo myself (thanks to the little Genius tablet).

12/23/2010 Works on the project engine were resumed.

01/10/2011 The project was launched in beta testing mode, in which he worked until today.



Some facts:

- On the site, side by side, there are profiles of famous personalities and ordinary people (that is, they did not abandon the initial idea).

- Comments are post-moderated.

- MySQL is used as a database.

- Introduction of paid services is not planned.

- 2 months passed from the idea to the launch of the project.



At the moment, 150 users are registered with Nekto.me. People like the site, the bounce rate is less than I expected.

Work is underway to improve usability and speed.
