And these are not the words of some “anonymous source”, the current head of Skype, Tony Bates, has announced his intention to change the structure of the company. Previously, he served as vice president of Cisco, so this is not a new person for the IT industry. So, Bates announced his intention to make the company a notable player in Silicon Valley, changing the structure of the company and some of its principles of work. All these changes will begin with an increase in the number of staff by 50%, and after that the old and new development teams will actively work on creating new and improving old technologies, plus the marketing wing of the company will be strengthened.
All these changes, by the way, were initiated not by Bates himself, but by the shareholders of the company. The latter fear that the company has recently been “slowing down” in development, offering not so many new products (in principle, besides the VoIP application itself, the company has little to offer its customers). So, shareholders believe that the reorganization of Skype will help the company work more efficiently.

Already, according to Bates, new projects are being developed, which in the future will be able to significantly complement the functionality of Skype, plus some independent products will appear. If users like the new products, then Skype can get a significant additional profit - after all, 8 million people use paid services of the company. True, this is a rather insignificant part of the company's total customer base of 124 million.
Bates believes that now there are not so many people in Skype, capable technical workers who can offer a really interesting idea with its further implementation. The total number of Skype employees is 850 people, and most of the technical staff works in Estonia. When the Skype office moves to Silicon Valley, employees from this region will be recruited.
In general, Skype is expected to really very significant changes that will affect the work of the company and, of course, the final product. It would be nice if the current leader was able to carry out his plan, although some experts fear the opposite effect. Same Yahoo! almost every day it declares new steps in the reorganization of the company, although in fact, for the past year and a half, all the changes are all in new dismissals.
Of course, Skype and Yahoo! it is impossible to compare, these are very different companies, but some concerns still remain. However, we wish Skype good luck, this company is worth a lot.
