Today, January 11, 2011, Google launches the first of its kind online science competition for children from 13 to 18 years old called Google Science Fair . “Google, in partnership with CERN, LEGO, National Geographic and Scientific American, is organizing a unique science Olympiad, more comprehensive and accessible than ever. This is a unique chance for students from 13 to 18 years of age, which allows them to gain unprecedented experience, a scholarship and, perhaps, the possibility of real employment. ” Submission of the project is allowed from one participant or from a group of 2-3 people. More details about applying for participation can be found on the official youtube channel of this grand event.
The official website of the Olympiad tells in detail about how it will be held. The deadline for registration in the Olympiad is April 4, 2011. Of all the submitted works, 60 semifinalists will be selected, then an Internet voting for the audience award will be held, and 15 projects will go to the final, whose authors will go to Google HQ (California) and July 11, 2011 present their projects to the jury, consisting of well-known scientists, including the Nobel laureates. Winners will be selected separately in the age categories 13-14, 15-16 and 17-18. And only one person or group will receive a Grand Prix.
