Nvidia will receive from Intel $ 1.5 billion over 5 years

This is a consequence of the peace agreement of both companies, which have withdrawn all lawsuits regarding the rights to their technology. For several years, Intel filed a lawsuit against Nvidia, then vice versa (the so-called patent wars). Today it became known that the companies were able to reach a peace agreement that would cost Intel 1.5 billion dollars in five years. But payments will be made for a reason, in return, Intel will receive the rights to use Nvidia patents from the sphere of graphics. In addition, Nvidia will also get access to some of the proprietary Intel technologies.

In principle, companies had access to certain technologies of each other before, on the basis of which a legal dispute arose, back in 2009. Then, Intel blamed Nvidia for abusing access to partner patents, using the technologies it received to a greater extent than was specified in the contract. Without thinking twice, Nvidia filed a lawsuit against Intel, and the lawsuit had a wording similar to that of Intel - the same violation of the rights to patents, violation of the terms of contracts.

Perhaps Intel is a little more “guilty” than Nvidia, since the management of the corporation has agreed to make such large payments. True, one and a half billion US dollars for five years for Intel is not a very burdensome payment, plus the company also gets access to all of its Nvidia technologies.

In principle, both companies won by entering into a peace agreement - Intel will use the necessary technology partner companies, and Nvidia also receives significant funds for the modernization of production and the commissioning of new production lines.

It is worth noting that at CES both companies announced new interesting projects, the practical implementation of which we will be able to see in the near future.
