Apple, eBay and Amazon take the last place in the "green" ranking

Non-profit organization Climate Counts , which evaluates various companies with regard to their contribution to the preservation of the environment, called Amazon, eBay and Apple the “dirtiest” representatives of the IT market. Climate Counts is funded by Stonyfield Farm yogurt maker and is working with the Clean Air-Cool Planet project to find new ways to slow the planet’s global warming.

In total, the rating, which Climate Counts now plans to make each year, includes 56 companies, reports Infoworld. All of them were evaluated on the basis of their having a plan on how to make their activities more environmentally friendly, the pace of its implementation and participation from various initiatives to combat climate change. Apple and eBay scored two points out of a possible hundred, and Amazon generally turned out to be “zero”. For comparison, Motorola received as much as 60 points - the company presented a clear plan to reduce energy use and has already achieved quite good results. Google was also at the bottom of the list - the company's efforts to counter global warming at Climate Counts were rated at 17 points. Yahoo and Microsoft received 36 points and 31 points respectively.
