Using crowdsourcing in finding a good topic for a diploma

Hi, I am a fifth year student at a Moscow university. I have to write a thesis and now I am seriously puzzled by the choice of a good and interesting topic.
I am sure that there are people on Habré who can help me and other students to come up with a decent topic and I even made a small website so that it would be convenient for all of us. So, if you want to provide all possible assistance to the development of Russian science and innovations, then please read on.

Diploma need to write six months. Naturally, not every day, but in the evenings after work and on weekends, it is important and necessary to give him time, since this is a serious thing, after which the student becomes like a real expert / engineer / whatever. So, this time I want to spend the most sensibly and interestingly.

For the implementation of the above plan, you need a good thesis topic. At the moment I can get it in two ways:

• I will give it. They will give an uninteresting, to some uncle necessary and my opinions will not be asked.
• I'll invent it myself. The main problem is that you need to “pull on the diploma”.

Obviously, the second point is appropriate, so I came up with several topics and carried them to the decision makers. It was not possible to approve any of them, the ideas have run out and now I ask for your help, dear users of Habrahabr.

I made a small website for the holidays, it is called dplm.me , it’s convenient to suggest topics and vote for existing ones (there are already a few). It is assumed that those of you who have ideas will go there and describe them briefly, and we, the students, will observe this and perhaps choose a topic for a thesis.

What can be offered?

In fact, anything at all relevant to information technology. Read an article about new interesting research? Offer. Any idea for developing any open-sourced (or non-open-sorted) project? Also offer. Is there a difficult task of analyzing the self-similarity of traffic, calculating the Hurst coefficient and other abstruse things? You can also offer.

I want to say that you can literally offer any relevant topic. It can be very simple, but someone will be able to think it out, or too complicated and someone will be able to perform only part of it. You can even write on what topic you have defended a diploma if you consider it interesting.

Maybe someone will be useful. To avoid habraeffekt you need a server with 2GB of memory minimum, based on my current experience. It also seems that stress testing with ab does not help you much, it’s better not to rely on it.
