New record from Tesla Roadster: 558 kilometers on one battery charge

We all celebrated the New Year differently: some with friends in the club, some with the second half in hot countries, some with parents. But one of the most original ways to meet the new year came up with a team of drivers who prefer electric cars to cars with an internal combustion engine. From the middle of the day on December 31, 2010 to the end of January 1, 2011, drivers Cassie and Teagan with the support team traveled 558 kilometers on the Tesla Roadster without charging the electric vehicle battery.

Thus, the team set a new record, breaking the record set by Simon Hackett and Emily Prelgauskas, Tesla's driver team. In October 2009, they traveled 500 kilometers on a single battery charge, the trip took place across the plains of Australia. Thus, the New Year's record increased the actual mileage of the Tesla Roadster by 50 kilometers.

True, the average speed of movement at the same time was only 40 kilometers per hour, and the trip passed along the desert road of one of the valleys of California. On the other hand, 40 kilometers per hour is a normal speed for roads inside the city, where cars often drive much slower. Well, 550 kilometers for the city is an excellent result, the majority of electric vehicle owners should be pretty.

Another interesting point - the electric car on which the team set its record, is the thousandth Tesla Roadster. That is why the team that set the record, began to call itself the VIN 1000. It is worth noting that the official distance of the car run on one battery charge, which is listed in the characteristics of the electric car - 390 kilometers.
