MultiTouch Ltd introduced the 46-inch multi-touch touchpad at CES

In principle, even the dimensions of the panel are impressive, but MultiTouch Ltd believes that its main achievement is that this panel recognizes any number of simultaneous touches to the surface. Of course, we all know about the exaggerations allowed by manufacturers, and “any” number of touches can be limited, for example, 50 or 100. However, the guys from Engadget tested the panel with their own hands, proving that the panel is able to recognize 40 simultaneous touches (more people, and, accordingly, Engadget simply did not have hands with fingers at that moment).

The multi-touch technology of a specific panel is based on the recognition of thermal radiation, and recognition sensors are built into the opposite side of the panel. This causes some inconvenience - for example, the thickness of such a 46-inch panel is about 30 centimeters. The weight of the panel is not indicated, but it seems that it should be rather big.

By the way, the cost of the panel is also rather big - 17 thousand dollars apiece. Of course, for an individual user such a thing is an expensive and useless pleasure, but for a secured company, the device can be quite useful. This model supports HD-quality video playback, and a detailed test of the device can be viewed on the video link below.
