"Sun" car Sunswift IV hit the Guinness Book of Records

Yes, in the new year with new records - recently a solar-powered drone set three records at once, and now the solar-powered car set its own record - now Sunswift IV is officially recognized as the fastest solar-powered car in the world. A fixed record - 88 kilometers per hour. In general, the car looks rather strange, and it is unlikely that a vehicle that receives energy from solar panels may look different, but 88 km / h is a great achievement. By the way, a “solar” little car was designed and built by students, it is not a millionth project of any corporation.

By the way, the power of the solar panels installed on the car is 1200 W, so the power consumption of the car does not exceed the power consumption of the middle toaster or hair dryer ).

It is probably worth mentioning that students who developed Sunswift IV study at the Australian University - the University of New South Wales. Now a team of students received an official certificate from representatives of the Guinness Book of Records.

The name of the car, Sunswift IV, knowingly contains the Roman numeral IV - this is not the first car developed by students, but the fourth in a row. Interestingly, in a record-breaking race, the car was driven not by a student, as one might think, but by a professional racer.

88 kilometers per hour is not the maximum speed developed by Sunswift IV, in 2009 the same car showed 103 kilometers per hour on one of the sections of the Global Green Challenge race (the length of the race was 3000 kilometers), but this result was not officially recorded.
