But since Maemo has a lot of fans, a group of people decided to create a community-ssu , that is, to continue supporting Maemo and releasing updates for it without the participation of Nokia. So far, they have not yet moved to public, so is testing, but plans to provide the community with frequent and most important stable updates, where the emphasis is on bugfixes. At the moment, is testing neof. updates through the repository. They already include patches and bugfixes, for example for the same hildon, which were not included by Nokia in PR1.3. Of course, they can be installed separately, the descriptions and code of which can be found on TMO , but the idea is to make it as convenient as possible for ordinary users. It was also discussed with Nokia about opening the code of some blobs in Maemo and drivers (or specs) for the N900, but unfortunately, the majority remained closed. Therefore, some of these people are also developing to replace the closed UI Maemo elements, those that Nokia did not agree to open. Since some of them contain many bugs, and Nokia is not in a hurry to fix them or even marked it as wontfix. In addition, these people want to ensure that Maemo is a completely open project.
