Safe Browsing API - protection against phishing and "evil" software on the web
Brian Rakowski and Garrett Casto of the Google phishing and malicious software teams said that the company makes its Safe Browsing API public. Safe Browsing API provides access to updated "black lists" of the company, containing the addresses of not very good sites. The same “black lists” are used in the Google phishing plug-in for Firefox and Google Desktop.
Anyone with a Google account can get a key to the API (58 characters long) to recognize the user. It also allows Google to restrict access to certain users who violate the user agreement. Applications that use the Safe Browsing API are subject to restrictions on the frequency of updates of the “black list” and on the number of users equal to 10 thousand. Also, by agreement, for the sake of misunderstanding, users should be advised that the service does not guarantee 100% protection against malicious BY.
