True, the gap from the well-known Internet Explorer is not so great. According to StatCounter statistics, now Firefox really takes the first place in popularity among Internet users in Europe. Mozilla's brainchild owns 38.11% of the browser market in Europe, and Internet Explorer - 37.52%. As you can see, the gap is really very small, which probably fits into the range of errors. However, the situation is still indicative - the popularity of Internet Explorer is falling all the time (this is exactly what Firefox now owes to its leadership in Europe, the popularity of this browser is growing, but not as fast as before). Experts also believe that the release of Firefox in the first place is due to the browser from Google.
How? The fact is that Google Chrome, according to experts who conducted statistical studies, took part of the user's audience from Internet Explorer, while Firefox users are in no hurry to abandon their browser.
')
As for Google Chrome, it now already owns 14.58% of the browser market in Europe, while in December 2009, this browser owned only about 5% of the market.
It may well be that the decline in popularity of Internet Explorer in Europe is also due to the emergence of the possibility of choosing a browser in Windows. Let me remind you that in early 2010, the European Commission ordered Microsoft to give its operating system users a choice of browser. The choice is limited to IE, Firefox, Chrome and Opera.
By the way, after Microsoft implemented the wish of the European Commission, Opera representatives also announced a significant increase in their browser downloads - apparently, users still liked the browser selection system.
StatCounter specialists counted based on data from approximately 3 million sites, with a total of 15 billion page views per month. It seems that this is really a sufficient base for more or less accurate statistical processing of such data.
