New SSDs made using MLC technology (multi-level-cell) with a capacity of 100, 200 and 400 GB will appear next month. These drives are designed for enterprise data storage solutions.
The SSD market is growing rapidly, and Samsung, having solid positions in the SLC disk market (single-level-cell), is expanding its lineup with more capacious ones (SLCs allow you to store only one bit of information in each cell, MLC - two) .
The use of a 30nm process and a 3 Gb / s SATA controller made it possible to achieve the performance of SLC disks, in some tests even exceeding it. The new MLC SSDs can read at 43000 I / O operations per second (IOPS) and write at 11000 IOPS. For comparison, HDD with a spindle speed of 15,000 RPM pulls only 350 IOPS.

As for energy consumption, the new SSDs overtake 15k RPM HDD 150 times the IOPS / Watt ratio, which allows 150 times more data to be processed, consuming the same amount of energy.
In addition, these drives have an end-to-end data protection feature with advanced encryption algorithms for secure and reliable data storage.
