Is the remote control perfect?

Recently, the ZigBee Alliance corporate alliance announced the availability of a new radio frequency communication standard, called the ZigBee Input Device, and will replace the infrared radiation in the input devices. The development is directly related to remote controls for home appliances, which, as we know, are very imperfect. And the batteries in them are discharged relatively quickly, and the signal transmission is not particularly perfect, which causes not only minor problems, but also annoyingly great. In general, the ZigBee Input Device will hopefully allow the remote controls of tomorrow to be born.

What does the new standard "know how"? For example, it provides a much larger than before, the range of the remote control, so that increases the reliability of control of the device, plus you can work with home appliances even from the next room, i.e. through the wall. In principle, this can be useful if you want to turn off the TV that was forgotten at the bottom or in the next room. It can also be assumed that all sorts of jokers will begin to mock the neighbors en masse, acquiring universal consoles, and turn off / on everything. I wonder if the communication standard provides for something to protect against such situations?

Of the advantages of the standard, you can also select a significantly lower power consumption by the remote control, so now the batteries will suffice for a long time. Of course, the unexpected discharge of the batteries will not become more pleasant, but at least the batteries / battery charge cycles will be required less than before.

In addition, the most pleasant function is that two-way communication between the input device and the device will now become possible. It is clear that such a function will indeed find wide application. For example, the console or device will respond to any changes in the environment by adjusting the corresponding parameters of the device.

The developers claim that the ZigBee Input Device standard will be implemented not only for remote controls, but will also be used in other input devices, such as wireless keyboards, mice, touchpads and other devices. Unfortunately, the alliance has not yet reported when it is possible to expect the appearance of devices with a new standard.
