At work, I faced the following question: which method is the best for choosing a language?
A set of country flags is commonly used (USA - for English, Russian Federation - for Russian, etc.). To which the bosses told me something like this: Which flag should I use for English? USA, British, Canadian? (A company in Canada, customers are international). Or for example the Mexicans do not like the Spanish flag, to refer to the Spanish language. The Spaniards respectively - Mexican.

In general, the flags of countries is a very unreliable method, especially among people clinically ill with political correctness.
Writing text is also not entirely clear, most Mexicans do not speak English, and the words “language” may well not be known. This also applies to everyone else.
