YouTube creates local versions

A well-known video distribution service YouTube seeks to expand its business and profit opportunities, so it plans to create local versions of the site in nine countries around the world.

It is reported that the new sites will be translated into national languages and available to residents of Brazil, France, Ireland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Poland, Spain and the UK.

As one of the founders of YouTube, Steve Chen, stated, at the moment most of the visitors to the American site are already residents of other countries, so the creation of additional international channels is a necessary step. More than 200 million videos are viewed through YouTube every day, so by making the site more accessible for people who don’t speak English, the company hopes to attract users and increase advertising opportunities.

It is known that the YouTube service has already signed partnership agreements regarding site content with such companies as British Broadcasting Corp., France 24, Chelsea Football Club, AC Milan, Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace.

Note that earlier, Google also started creating similar websites, presenting versions of its website in different languages depending on the region in which the user was located. All this was accomplished thanks to a simple scheme: the resource first determines the IP of the computer, and then loads a particular channel.

I wondered why this has not been done so far. After all, Google has such a database of aypishnikov, probably the best in the world, why should they constantly drive such traffic across the ocean? I hope that the YouTube server in the Netherlands will have an English interface - the download speed from there is still a bit faster than from the states.
Although it is not fundamental. The most positive thing is that YouTube will come to the Russian market in the near future.
